"Doubting theocratic assignments, even in our hearts, could weaken our confidence in decisions being made."
Boy oh boy. That line of thought really causes full-time serving JWs some major problems.
for those who don't care to listen to the talk but would like to know what was said ... here ya go .... .
avoid testing god in your heart.
imagine the ancient israelites as they were slaves in egypt, under an oppressive pharaoh.. god brought nine plagues on egypt and then announced a tenth; the firstborn would be struck down.. can you imagine the cry that went out in egypt when the firstborn died, including pharaoh's own son?.

of course, freedom means a lot of different things to many different people.
however- to the wt society it means controlling it's jw members through fear and guilt to promote a " conditional " freedom - which turns out to not be freedom at all - just a manipulated socially restricted condition in which jehovah's witnesses are caged animals waiting for the next bit of " spiritual " food to be thrown to them by wt articles like this.. at the start of this article on pg.
7 in paragraph 1 it states that due to lawlessness, none of us have freedom to roam around at night, there are alarms, security systems - so the wt society infers we are all living in fear.
Unless one is talking about exiting the cult, Jehovah's Witnesses and freedom do not belong in the same sentence.
Good review Flipper.
eta - That paragraph on immorality is the kind of mind%*&$ that causes so much psychological damage for the JW and their natural right to a healthy sex life. And I too felt that I was always being watched and my conduct and speech being measured when around witnesses (especially in social settings).
she did it again.. i'm waiting for someone to come out and give a prayer.. rub a dub.
PTD "I thought Saturday was magazine day in FS?"
LOL
what do you think?.
.
om.
HAHA.
All the evidence shows that it is indeed a WT-owned restaurant.
my wife and i call in to the cbs/tms/sm once or twice a month and only listen to the announcements.
last week the announcements included a demo of a jw woman trying to peddle mags to a female householder.
her intro went like this:.
I would greet them, give my name and ask what they're visit was concerning. No biggie.
we have chosen the world we live in......inside our thoughts.
the physical location of us is practically (not entirely) irrelevant.. we have selected certain thoughts to regard as....... unthinkable and ignorable.. we have cherry-picked importance like a salad bar.
we leave behind most of reality and head to the dinner table.
Enjoyed reading this Terry.
Gives added meaning to Descartes', "I think, therefore I am".
i know you've answered this question before but which book do you recommend be read first --- combatting cult mind control (ccmc) or releasing the bonds (rtb)?
.
thanks.
Combatting Cult Mind Control
by that, i don't mean so much what you do in your leisure time but how you manage the freedom to choose what you will or will not do.
off the wt treadmill, i no longer feel guilty about what is now my neglect of theocratic activity; however, after a nonstop week such as i have just lived through (barely), i am doing nothing, going nowhere, and accepting no new obligations (for the moment).
i can stare at the sky, enjoy the beautiful day and not worry that demons are rushing to fill the void in my empty skull.. you?.
Same here CC. I had to truly learn to accept down time as a pleasure. I learned to unwind and relax without guilt. It is very liberating.
i always wondered what's the point if they'll keep reinstating you.
jw version of a catholic confession?
peaceall paulnotsaul.
I have an uncle who has been disfellowshipped 6 times. I wish he'd give up trying to live the JW lifestyle.
Nothing like a new piece of WT artwork to trigger the old anxiety.
